I absolutely love tea, particularly Earl Grey, Assam, Orange Pekoe and Rose, so it was only a matter of time, I suppose, until I digressed into painting tea cups as well. The design is my interpretation of a vintage rose design with a twist. I like the idea of ladies secretly drinking gin at tea parties and indeed, during Prohibition, that is exactly what would have happened.
This fine bone china teacup and saucer has a lovely vintage feel with its pedestal base and low, flared cup.
It measures 4" across by 2.2" tall and is accompanied by a 6" saucer.
The cup and saucer are hand painted as shown, with the wording, 'There may be Gin in here...' on the front and pale pink roses and gold curlicues around the cup.
